Thaba Meetse Private Game Reserve lies within the world famous Waterberg Biosphere area, and is situated about 3 kilometers east of Vaalwater, in the Limpopo province. This fantastic Reserve was expanded from an original 670 hectares to over 2400 hectares recently.
The first development phase to subdivide 39 full-title stands has now been concluded and title deed registrations as well as the subsequent building work of the first houses and the new Savanna Resorts Thaba Meetse Lodge and Conference Centre should commence early 2008. Thaba Meetse is abundant with fauna and flora, and features a variety of Game species, including: Giraffe; Eland; Blue Wildebeest; Impala; Kudu; Waterbuck; Red Hartebeest; Blesbuck; Bushbuck; Zebra; Ostrich; Warthog; Bush pig; Aardvark; Porcupine; Jackal; Caracal; Hippo; Crocodile, and a number of other small antelope, as well as a great number of exciting other small animals, reptiles, and birds, and even the occasional Cheetah and Leopard.
Kwano entered into an agreement to purchase the farm Slijpsteendrift on the eastern border of Thaba Meetse. This fantastic 1750 hectare farm which will become part of the new 2420 hectare Thaba Meetse Game Reserve, features fantastic topography, ranging from dense bush, semi open grass and bush land, 4 huge earth dams as well as 9 kilometers of perennial river flowing through it.
Over the last few years Kwano realized that there is a very definite market for full-title properties (small farms) ranging from 20 to 50 hectares, within a bigger Game Reserve, and after careful consideration and consultation with our Technical Advisors, the decision was made to develop a total of 37 twenty-hectare full-title private farms within the new Thaba Meetse Reserve, as part of phase-2 of the greater Thaba Meetse project.
A total of 80 Residential stands namely situated in the new JACANA and NYALA Villages, a Senior Citizens Village, and a Clubhouse complex will also form part of the phase-2 development. The greater Thaba Meetse Reserve will have three entrance gates, of which one will give direct access to the Jacana , Nyala and Senior Citizens Villages.
Ownership of small game farms within a bigger Reserve as is the case with Thaba Meetse, offers a list of advantages; No responsibility for maintenance or Game-management; Full 24-hour security and access control; Traversing rights over a large area; A wide variety of Game species, to name but a few. In the few Reserves in South Africa where the concept of small farms within a bigger Reserve is utilized, the demand is extremely high, and huge profits can be made over a relative short term, through investment in these properties.
The subdivision (proclamation) process of the full title farms within the Greater Thaba Meetse Reserve is expected to take approximately eighteen to twenty months. The provisional time of final proclamation for this project is expected in the third quarter of 2008.
